I bought my first home with my sisters when I was 24 years old (1999). The place was a bit of a wreck and I was pretty clueless about the process but, thankfully, God blessed me with smart and savvy older sisters who knew how to renovate wisely and they turned that Willow Glen duplex (San Jose, CA) into an amazing home/investment property.
I moved to Hawaii on January 1, 2008, and for the last 10+ years, I have rented. It’s been a blessing in that I’ve been able to live in a number of different neighborhoods and get to know different parts of Oahu well.
I have been looking to purchase for a number of years and the right opportunity presented itself in late May. I closed on a sweet little condo in July.
In late August, I had a quick trip to CA for a family wedding. And so when I flew back home to HI and we were preparing to land in Honolulu, I felt a wave of emotion...I realized it was the first time in my life that I got to put my OWN address from my OWN home on the Hawaii agriculture form.
For me personally, nothing beats the feeling of having your own little piece of paradise.
Take it from me...it's never too late to have your own "Hale Sweet Hale"!
